On the 8th August the club ran a Novice Working Test to raise funds for the charity Canine Partners. Paula Pitman our Working Test Secretary had a huge task on her hands as she was also running the club's open test at the same time. Being Paula she rose to the occasion and both tests ran smoothly and without a hitch. We are very grateful to the landowners Lord and Lady Clarendon for allowing us to hold the events at Holywell. As this was an Unclassified Novice Test we were able to accept many entries from different breeds in the Gundog World. There were over fifty dogs taking part and as well as Labradors and Golden Retrievers we had Flatcoat Retrievers, English Springer Spaniels, Cocker Spaniels, Smooth and Wire Haired Hungarian Vizlas, a German Wire Haired Pointer, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, a Bracco Italiano and a Spanish Water Dog. There were many competitors who had never run a dog in a test and so many nerves were calmed by our judges Janet Neale and Colin Richardson.

The support from all those taking part on the day has been tremendous. Along with the entry money ,a silent auction, a raffle and generous donations  we are pleased to announce that the total sum raised was £1,140.00.

Everyone enjoyed the day and the club is hoping the Charity will be able to buy two puppies with the proceeds and we will be able to follow their progress through their training and working lives.

The Dowger Lady Clarendon presented the prizes.

The winners on the day were

1st
Lynette Irwin with her Flatcoat Bitch Bumblyn Witchazel,
2nd Carrie Goodall a very novice handler with her Labrador Bitch Gold Robber Solo Initiation,
3rd from the Isle of Wight Karen Sowerby with her ESS Dog Evansaura Tyler of Johnorah and
4th Felicity Preedy a Great - Grandmother with her Labrador Bitch Hoffbank High Hopes.
